Delhi Police arrested a 25-year-old youth in connection with the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) fake bomb threat case. The name of the accused is Shubham Upadhyay. The youth, who had studied up to class 12 and was an unemployed resident of Rajapuri, Uttam Nagar, was arrested after a detailed investigation into the spread of false rumours.

In fact, on the night of October 25-26, false information about a bomb at IGI Airport was received through a social media account. Security officials immediately activated standard protocols for airport security, coordinating with local authorities to assess the situation. The authorities immediately registered a case vide FIR No. 833/24 under Section 3 (1) (d) of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation (SUA SCA) Act, 1982 and Section 351 (4 ) of the BNS Law. .

The initial investigation confirmed that the threat was fake, but the Delhi Police continued the investigation to trace the source of the message. Through technical surveillance and intelligence gathering, information was found regarding social media accounts associated with the accused child. Given this, the police arrested the young man at his home. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to sending the message. He claimed that he was influenced by similar cases appearing in the news and wanted to attract attention by copying such incidents.

Delhi Police assured people that operations at the airport are safe and emphasized that there is no real threat from the incident. Airport authorities have improved security protocols and continue strict monitoring and control to ensure people's safety. The police spokesperson urged citizens to report any unusual or suspicious activity, while highlighting the importance of community cooperation to prevent such incidents.

Let us tell you that Upadhyay is currently in police custody and an investigation is underway. Authorities are investigating his intentions and evaluating his activities on social media. Police reiterated the serious consequences of false threats, which can create public anxiety, disrupt essential operations and misuse critical security resources.

The Delhi Police also issued an advisory suggesting a zero-tolerance policy towards any threat, warning that those responsible for such fraud will face strict legal consequences.
