These days, the Israeli terrorist group is fighting with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza and Iran. Many people have lost their lives in this war. Israel has targeted these three and is attacking directly. Meanwhile, a video of Prime Minister Netanyahu, claiming to be speaking to a sheikh, is rapidly circulating on social media. India TV’s fact-checking team found it to be misleading and deceptive.
What was claimed?
Social media user @athavale_abhi claimed that a Saudi Arabian Sunni sheikh praised Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for killing terrorists. In such a situation, why are Indian Muslims protesting against Israel here? No comments could be received from Asaduddin Owaisi on this.
Another user @lakshaymehta31 also claimed that a Saudi Arabian sheikh praised Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for eliminating terrorists. Both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates stand with Israel.
What was found in the investigation?
When India TV’s fact-checking team saw this video, we were skeptical about the quality of it. After this we began to investigate it. When we entered several keywords into Google about Saudi Arabia’s Sheikh and Prime Minister Netanyahu, we found many similar videos. We then did a reverse image search and found a YouTube link of a YouTuber from Saudi Arabia which was from the year 2019. We then translated the title, which was in Arabic, into Hindi and English.
The whole matter became clear in that. “Saudi generalist Mohammed Saud called Netanyahu from Riyadh during the Likud party voting process and offered him support and said he could vote for Netanyahu,” the video’s caption read. At the same time, the war is also not mentioned in the video.
What was the conclusion?
The claim made on social media that the Saudi Sheikh has praised Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for killing terrorists is completely misleading. The video is actually from 2019, when Mohammed Saud of Saudi Arabia called Netanyahu from Riyadh during the Likud Party voting process and offered him support.
