According to Dr Ankit Kumar of GTB Hospital, if the skin burns, it is not correct to apply toothpaste on it as it may cause harm instead of benefit because most toothpastes contain sodium fluoride which can harm the skin. It is best to apply an antiseptic cream on skin burns and take medicine to dry the wounds only after consulting a doctor.

What to do if you burn yourself?

If your skin has been burned by firecrackers, the first thing you should do is check that the problem is not very serious. If the skin is less burned, first keep the skin charged under running water, so that if some gunpowder sticks to it and then wipe it off, this will also reduce the burning sensation. After this, clean the wound with antiseptic liquid. If you already have any skin burn healing cream at home, apply it; Otherwise, you can apply coconut oil.

Take these precautions

Great care should be taken while burning crackers on Diwali, but if one accidentally burns oneself, one should immediately apply toothpaste and put a piece of ice directly on the affected area. If blisters appear, don’t make the mistake of popping them, otherwise a wound will form. In such a situation, consult a doctor.
