Two members of a group of four friends, who had reached Bijadi village in Kundapura from Bengaluru to attend their friend's wedding, drowned on the beach. The incident occurred on Saturday, when four friends were staying at a beachside resort.
According to the police, three of this group of four friends had gone to the seashore to play in the water, during which a strong wave came and swept two friends, Santhish and Ajay, into deep waters.
According to the news agency report, when Mokshit saw his friends drowning in the waves, he immediately jumped into the water to save them. Mokshith managed to pull out his friend Santhish and bring him to the shore. Although Santheesh's condition deteriorated and he was taken to the hospital, he died on the way.
Meanwhile, the rescue team pulled Ajay's body out of the water. A senior police officer said the four friends were staying at a nearby resort and had come to have fun on the beach. At the time of the incident there were strong waves in the sea, which is why this accident occurred.
Police have sent the bodies for autopsy and are investigating the matter. Police have warned beachgoers not to enter the sea without adequate safety measures, especially when there is high sea tide. After this accident, there is a wave of mourning among the relatives and friends of the victims.
