The Indian men’s hockey team lost the test series against world champions Germany. Team India defeated defending world champions Germany 5-3 in the second and final hockey test played at the Major Dhyan Chand Nation Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday (October 24). Still, the Indian team had to lose the test series.

In fact, after the Indian team’s victory in the second test, the hockey test series was tied 1-1, so the winner of the test series was decided in a penalty shootout. Germany won 3-1 in the penalty shootout. In the penalty shootout, Harmanpreet Singh, Abhishek, Mohammad Raheel failed to score, while Aditya Arjun Lalge, who made his debut for the Indian team, scored a goal.

In the second match, Elian Majkoor (7th and 57th minutes) scored two goals and Heinrich Mertjens (60th minute) scored a goal for Germany. For the Indian team, goals were scored by Sukhjit Singh (34th and 48th minutes), captain Harmanpreet Singh (42nd and 43rd minutes) and Abhishek (45th minute).

The India-Germany match was like this

India started the match aggressively and created many chances in the opening minutes but could not penetrate the German defence. Germany took the lead in the seventh minute with a goal from Elian Majkoor, who scored on a backhand shot from the right corner. Two minutes later, Aditya almost scored but his shot off a pass from Jarmanpreet Singh was saved by German goalkeeper Joshua N Onyekwu.

After this, India got two consecutive penalty corners, in which the goal could not be scored. On the other hand, Lucas Windfeder’s shot on Germany’s first penalty corner in the 12th minute also did not hit the target. After a few minutes, India got a penalty corner in which the host team tried a variation and Amit Rohidas, playing his 200th match, passed the ball to Harmanpreet, but his shot was saved by the German goalkeeper.

India failed to get a penalty corner on Germany’s counterattack. India got two more penalty corners but could not score. The penalty corner that Germany got two minutes before the break was in vain. In the first four minutes of the second half, India played aggressively and scored three penalty corners, but could not open the score.

After this, Harmanpreet gave India the lead by converting two penalty corners within a minute. Sukhjeet scored a goal in the 34th minute and Abhishek scored the fourth goal for India. While in the 48th minute, Sukhjeet beat the German goalkeeper with a long pass and scored with a backhand shot. The penalty corner that Germany got in the 54th minute was in vain. However, three minutes before the whistle, Germany reduced the deficit with Majkur’s goal.
