By now you must have heard the name NATO. That is, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that has existed since April 4, 1949. The organization in which there are 32 countries. Similarly, preparations are currently underway for a new organization, whose name could be Muslim NATO. Will Saudi’s two biggest enemies, Iran and Saudi Arabia, unite? Is the formation of the Islamic ‘NATO’, a military alliance of 25 Muslim countries, going to change the global equation?
The Middle East has become a theater of war. The Arab countries are on fire. Most Arab countries have enmity with each other, but now this enmity can end. It is possible that if Israel attacks Iran’s nuclear facilities, then the Iranian military will face the power of Türkiye, Iraq or Saudi Arabia. Or it is also possible that if the United States again undertakes military actions like Iraq, accusing a Muslim country of possessing nuclear weapons, then the armies of 25 Muslim-majority countries in the world will unite like a fist against the superpower.
25 powerful Muslim countries in the world are trying to form a military alliance like NATO. It is called ‘Islamic NATO’, Muslim NATO or Muslim Military Alliance Organization, i.e. MMAO. If this happens, it will be the second largest military alliance in the world after NATO. Ten large Muslim majority countries like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, United Arab Emirates i.e. UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Malaysia can be the core members of the new “Muslim NATO”.
Apart from these, these 10 countries: Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya can become the main partner countries of “Muslim NATO”. In addition to the core members and partner countries, five more countries can become members of “Muslim NATO.” Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Brunei can be associate members of “Muslim NATO”.
The second largest military alliance in the world will be formed!
This could be the second largest military alliance in the world between the armies of 10 main members, 10 partner countries and 5 associate members, that is, armies of a total of 25 countries. Preparations for the formation of an organization such as “Muslim NATO” or “Islamic NATO” are progressing at a rapid pace. The idea of a military alliance like NATO between countries with Muslim-majority populations comes from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. By doing this, Erdoğan wants to become the most powerful among the Arab countries and the caliph of the Muslim world.
‘Muslim NATO’ is Erdoğan’s brainchild. A few days ago, Erdoğan, while speaking at a program of the Association of Islamic Schools in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, had revealed the entire “Muslim NATO” plan. Erdoğan had said: “The only answer to stopping Israeli arrogance, Israeli bandits and terrorism supported by the Israeli government is a military alliance between Islamic countries. We have to create a ‘Muslim NATO’.
Erdoğan is contacting all Muslim countries to form “Muslim NATO”. Who feel that Israel can become a threat to them. Erdoğan has contacted Egypt and Syria this month to form “Muslim NATO.” Last week, Erdoğan received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Ankara. Relations between Türkiye and Egypt have not been good. This was the first time in the last 12 years that an Egyptian president came to Türkiye. Forgetting mutual differences, Erdoğan discussed “Muslim NATO” with Al Sisi.
Why does Erdoğan make such efforts?
Erdoğan is showing fear of Israel in Lebanon and Syria. Erdoğan has made diplomatic efforts to reduce mutual tensions with many Muslim-majority countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The intention behind these efforts is believed to be to create a military alliance like the “Muslim NATO.” Erdoğan is trying to become the greatest leader of Islamic countries. He wants to recover a sultanate like the Ottoman Empire in the Arab countries and plans to become its caliph himself. “Muslim NATO” is the result of this ambition.
An attempt similar to that of the Muslim NATO has been made before. 9 years ago, in December 2015, an organization called IMCTC i.e. Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition was formed. It was developed by 42 Muslim countries in Asia and Africa against terrorism. This organization is still active, but neither terrorism could be eradicated from Pakistan nor could Syria be saved from destruction by falling into the clutches of ISIS. Preparations are now being made to form a new organization with 25 members with similar goals.
A few days ago, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had called on all Muslim countries in the world to forget their differences and unite against Israel. On the other hand, Türkiye is the only country among the 57 Muslim countries in the world that is included in the NATO alliance. Even after this, Erdoğan is engaged in diplomatic efforts to form an alliance of Muslim countries similar to NATO, but another voice in favor of the formation of a Muslim NATO has come from Pakistan. Today, the fugitive Zakir Naik, who makes provocative statements in Pakistan, speaks in his speeches about Muslim NATO.
The United States has military bases in about 19 Middle Eastern countries. The United States has large military bases in Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Israel, Turkey, Jordan, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. The US military has a permanent base in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, since 1951. Apart from this, the US also has Al-Udeid Air Base and Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. From these military bases, the United States monitors the entire Middle East and the Gulf countries and, being a member of NATO, Erdoğan has the obligation to support the United States. Erdoğan wants to get out of this compulsion and wants to lead it by creating another military front like NATO.
What impact will this organization have in India?
Turkish President Erdoğan is making holes in the plate he eats from. While in NATO, he tries to create big problems for NATO. There are 32 countries in NATO, including the United States. And Erdoğan’s intention is to gain power like NATO by uniting 27 Muslim countries in the world and govern them, but the question is that if “Muslim NATO” is formed by uniting countries like Turkey, Pakistan and Bangladesh, what will be its impact? in India?
An organization like Muslim NATO does not yet exist, but serious efforts are being made to create one. Do you understand now what is the main reason behind the creation of Muslim NATO? In line with NATO, the main objective of Muslim NATO, which is expected to consist of 25 Muslim countries, is to unite and carry out counter-terrorism operations. Apart from this, under this organization, Muslim countries will also focus on modernizing each other’s military forces.
The third goal is to share intelligence information between these 25 Muslim countries, but the biggest goal is to become the third power in the world at the time of the great war. The world is moving rapidly towards a world war. One side is that of the United States and the NATO countries. Secondly, countries that support Russia such as Russia, Belarus, Iran and North Korea. If the 25-nation Muslim NATO is formed, it will be the third largest power. If Muslim NATO is formed, after the conflict between these three powers there will be massive destruction.
Now the question is, if 25 Muslim countries manage to form Muslim NATO forgetting all their differences, then how can this group influence India? The first effect will be that the tension between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh may increase because countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh will be members of it. The second effect will be that the Kashmir dispute could be fueled because this organization could try to exert pressure in favor of Pakistan. The third effect could be that regional security would be at risk because Pakistan could gain strength from Muslim NATO.
The fourth effect is that there will be an attempt to isolate India because Pakistan can keep Muslim majority countries under its influence, but experts believe that Muslim NATO is just a fantasy that can never become a reality. The question is that when the organization called Islamic Military Coalition Against Terrorism of 42 countries has not achieved its objectives, how will the Muslim idea of NATO of 25 countries work then?
