New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi twice and asked him about the state’s preparedness after the cyclone. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, during the conversation, the Chief Minister provided detailed information regarding the deployment of forces like NDRF and ODRAF for rehabilitation and protection of the population. The CMO said the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the State’s preparedness. Union Minister Amit Shah also discussed the situation with the Chief Minister and promised to provide all necessary assistance.
ISRO also monitors the cyclonic storm

At the same time, ISRO said on Thursday that its satellites are monitoring ‘Dana’, so the data will be available immediately to help in disaster management efforts. According to her, the polar orbiting satellite EOS-06 and the geostationary satellite INSAT-3DR regularly provide valuable information on the position of the cyclone. ISRO said: “Cyclone ‘Dana’ is approaching the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal. ISRO’s EOS-06 and INSAT-3DR satellites have been tracking the storm since October 20, providing real-time data to help in disaster management efforts.
Thousands of people were evacuated to safe places
Due to fear of Cyclone ‘Dana’ making landfall, authorities in Odisha and West Bengal have evacuated thousands of people to safe places. In addition to this, schools were closed, more than 400 trains were canceled and flights were suspended. The wind speed of this storm, which hit the coast between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port in Odisha early on Friday, can reach 120 kilometers per hour. Essential items such as food, drinking water, baby items and policewomen are available at shelter centers. The official said that trees have been uprooted in many areas.

Administrative staff are on high alert regarding cyclone ‘Dana’. The Indian Coast Guard has also been put on high alert and is closely monitoring the situation. The ICG has taken proactive measures to ensure preparedness to deal with any emergency arising from the impact of the cyclone. According to estimates, at the time of landfall, the waves in the sea will be 2 meters higher than normal. ‘Dana’ is also said to have the same impact as the cyclonic storm ‘Yas’ that occurred in the year 2021.
