The hearing of the first case under the new Indian Justice Code law, 2023 ended in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh. While hearing this case, for the first time in Uttar Pradesh, a court sentenced the culprit to life imprisonment. This case was the rape of an innocent six-year-old girl. Apart from sentencing the convict to life imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh. In this, the victim will receive three lakh rupees. Let us tell you that this is the second case of punishment in Uttar Pradesh under the new law.

The matter is in a village in the Kuthound police station area. Here, at 2 pm on July 9, Lallan Singh of the same village raped an innocent six-year-old girl. Upon returning home, the victim girl informed her mother about the incident. After this, the girl’s mother took her to the police station and lodged a complaint against the accused Lallan Singh. The police also immediately swung into action, opened a case against the accused under the new law and arrested him.

Test completed in 90 days

Jalaun district government advocate Lakhanlal Niranjan and additional government advocate Brijraj Rajput, who represented the case, said POCSO court judge Mohammad Qamar completed the hearing of the case in just 90 days and declared guilty to the accused and that is why the punishment was also announced. He said that after the incident, DM Rajesh Kumar Pandey and Superintendent of Police Dr Durgesh Kumar himself had come to know about this matter.

Statement of charges was submitted in 16 days

Due to this, the police completed the investigation in just 16 days and submitted the chargesheet against the accused before the court. According to the government counsel, a fine of Rs 5 lakh was imposed on the accused. Of this, Rs 3 lakh will be given to the victim. He said this is the second case of punishment under the new law. However, for the first time the Jalaun court sentenced a criminal to life imprisonment under the new law.
