Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Lohardaga assembly seat in Jharkhand was given hot seat status. This is an important seat of the Jharkhand assembly, which was won by the Indian National Congress. Voting for this seat will be held in the first phase on November 13. Lohardaga’s electoral equation

The Lohardaga assembly seat falls in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand. Bagdu mountain is the special identity of this place. The total number of voters in this assembly constituency is 284107. Among them, the number of female voters is 143366 and the number of male voters is 140741. Apart from Sadar block, Lohardaga assembly constituency also includes some areas of Kudu, Kisco, Pesharar and Bhandara blocks. Lohardaga assembly seat was in the account of Congress or BJP, but after the alliance of AJSU and BJP, this seat was handed over to AJSU party.

Kamal Kishore Bhagat was the MLA of the AJSU party. After his sudden death, the seat returned to Congress’ account. After the formation of Jharkhand, Congress candidate Sukhdev Bhagat was a two-time MLA from Lohardaga assembly seat. Sukhdev Bhagat had won the by-election after former MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat’s membership was abolished following the conviction.



Lohardaga seat status in 2019

In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP had to face a crushing defeat in the Lohardaga seat. State Congress president Dr Rameshwar Oraon defeated BJP’s Sukhdev Bhagat by over 30,000 votes in the Lohardaga assembly seat. Congress candidate Dr Rameshwar Oraon became MLA by securing 74,380 votes. The BJP was the second party in this election. Sukhdev Bhagat, who quit the Congress and contested the elections with the BJP, got 44,230 votes. AJSU party candidate Neeru Shanti Bhagat came third. He obtained a total of 39,916 votes.

Sukhdev Bhagat left Congress and joined BJP, but lost

After doing Congress politics for 14 years, Sukhdev Bhagat joined the BJP in the same year but had to face defeat. In the 2009 and 2014 elections, Sukhdev Bhagat had to face defeat by AJSU candidate Kamal Kishore Bhagat. However, in the 2015 assembly by-elections, Sukhdev Bhagat won by a huge majority. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he had to face a defeat by just a few thousand votes. In the Lok Sabha elections, he gave a tough fight to BJP’s Sudarshan Bhagat in the Lohardaga seat.

The Jharkhand assembly elections will be held in two phases. Voting will be held on November 13 for a total of 44 seats in the first phase. While voting on the remaining seats will be held in the second phase on November 20. At the same time, the election results will be announced on November 23.
