Baramati Assembly Election 2024: The assembly elections in Maharashtra have become very interesting. Not just Maharashtra, the entire country has its eyes on the Baramati assembly elections. Actually, Baramati is the place from where Sharad Pawar started his electoral politics. He later gave his traditional seat to his nephew Ajit Pawar. After Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar has been the MLA here for a long time.

Uncle and nephew face to face from Baramati

Ahead of the voting to be held on November 20 in Baramati, the electoral battle between the two factions of the NCP has become very interesting. Actually, Sharad Pawar has given a note to his grandson Yugendra Pawar from his Baramati fort. Ajit Pawar, who rebelled against his uncle and took charge of the party, is also contesting the elections from Baramati. Both parties have also released the list officially.

Sharad Pawar made a special strategy

According to the information, Sharad Pawar has made a special strategy to corner Ajit Pawar. Under this strategy, he has given entry to Yugendra, son of Ajit Pawar’s younger brother Srinivas. That means the battle of Baramati will now be seen between uncle and nephew. When there was a political dispute in the Pawar family, Srinivas and Yugendra supported Sharad Pawar and openly criticized Ajit Pawar. There was a lot of tension in the Pawar family when Ajit Pawar made his wife Sunetra contest in the elections from Baramati parliamentary constituency against his sister Supriya Sule. However, Sunetra had lost the Lok Sabha elections to her sister-in-law.

Baramati electoral history

Baramati constituency is considered the stronghold of the Sharad family. The Pawar family has held this position for 57 years. Since 1967, Sharad Pawar has been elected MLA from Baramati. Later Sharad gave this seat to his nephew Ajit. After him, Ajit Pawar has been the MLA from here continuously since 1993. Both factions of the NCP are contesting the assembly elections for the first time after the party split. Therefore, this time we have to see whether people here are with Sharad Pawar or Ajit Pawar. However, Sharad Pawar dominated the Lok Sabha elections from here and his daughter won a big victory.

In the 2019 elections in Baramati, Ajit Pawar defeated the BJP candidate by a wide margin. Ajit got 195,641 votes, while BJP candidate Gopichand Padalkar got only 30,376 votes. Ajit Pawar also scored big victories in 2014 and 2009. Let us tell you that Baramati is coming in Pune district. According to the 2011 census, the population here is 429,600.
