More than 150 trains canceled due to cyclone ‘Dana’.

Kolkata: There is a possibility of severe cyclonic storm Dana hitting the coast of Odisha and West Bengal. An alert has also been issued in this regard. Cyclonic Storm Dana is feared to hit the Odisha-West Bengal coasts on October 25. Due to fear of Cyclonic Storm Dana, more than 150 express and passenger trains passing through the South Eastern Railway (SER) area have been cancelled. A Southeast Railway official reported about the cancellation of trains.

These trains were cancelled.

South-East Railway official said the canceled trains include Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, Kamakhya-Yesvantpur AC Express, Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express, Howrah-Bhubaneswar Shatabdi Express and Howrah-Yesvantpur Express. The head of the SER said that the canceled trains were scheduled to leave their stations of origin from October 23 to 25. If necessary, further trains passing through the southeast region may be cancelled. Let us tell you that West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand etc. are included in the SER region based in Kolkata.

Department of Meteorology gave information

According to the Meteorological Department office, the depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal may develop into a severe cyclonic storm. This cyclonic storm may cross the Odisha-West Bengal coasts on October 25 at a speed of 100-110 kmph to 120 kmph. A senior official said that due to fear of a cyclonic storm, Kolkata airport officials have started preparations to deal with any situation even before October 25. He informed that standard operating procedures such as inspection of airport infrastructure and drainage system and all other services are being verified. (entrance-agency)
