David Ben-Gurion announced the establishment of Israel
Israel-Iran War News (Aaj Samaj) New Delhi: Today Iran and Israel are on the brink of war. Both countries want to destroy each other. In response to Iran's attack on Israel some 24 days ago, Israel today attacked several Iranian military bases. Regarding attacks on Iran, Israel says it will do whatever is necessary to protect its country and its citizens. Israel has taken this measure to protect its self-esteem. Let us also tell you that controversies also arose with the birth of Israel. Israel was born on May 14, 1948.
David Ben-Gurion, head of the Jewish Agency, announces the creation of Israel. That same day, then-President of the United States, Harry S. Truman, recognized Israel as a new nation. The part of the world that most countries today recognize as Israel was under the control of Great Britain before 1948. Before World War I, this part of Western Asia, i.e. Palestine, was ruled by the Ottoman Empire. Britain took control of Palestine after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire. Here there was a population of Jews and Arabs. In addition to the Jewish minority and the Arab majority, other ethnic groups also lived here.
Jews fleeing Europe and Germany arrived in Palestine
In 1917, British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour had promised to provide a homeland for Jews who were being persecuted in many parts of the world. Britain gave the idea of creating a country for the Jewish people in Palestine and their efforts began in Palestine. From 1920 to 1940, Jews fleeing Europe and Germany continually arrived in Palestine. This increased the number of Jews in the area. After World War II, work on the establishment of Israel began rapidly.
Jerusalem declared an international city
Furthering this, in 1947 the United Nations voted to divide Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab countries and made Jerusalem an international city. It was accepted by the Jewish leaders but rejected by the Arab side. A year later, in 1948, Jewish leaders announced the establishment of Israel, calling it a safe country and homeland for Jews.
Armies from five countries attacked Israel.
Israel gained support from the United States, but the neighboring Arab countries were enraged by this and the next day the armies of five countries attacked the newly formed country. In 1967, war broke out again between the Arab countries and Israel. This battle lasted only six days but was very beneficial for Israel. During this period, Israel captured East Jerusalem and the West Bank, the Syrian Golan Heights, Gaza, and the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula. Since then, Israel has colonized Jews by building settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
