The tension between India and Canada continues and increases day by day. The situation worsened after Canada’s High Commissioners were suspended and India withdrew its officials. India has clarified its stance on the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar several times and refuted Canada’s allegations. Now a new claim has been made that “one of the people close to Modi is behind the criminal conspiracy in Canada.”
Canada’s Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison told MPs on Tuesday: “One of the people close to Modi is behind the criminal conspiracy in Canada. Canadian police have alleged that India is involved in major crimes in Canada, including murder and intimidation.

Claim made before the National Security Committee
The minister said a senior official in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is accused of authorizing a campaign to intimidate or kill Canadians. David Morrison appeared before MPs on the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee to testify.
What did Canadian officials say before?
Before Tuesday, Canadian officials had only officially said that the conspiracy could be traced to “the highest levels of the Indian government.” Canadian Police Commissioner Mike Duhem also testified Tuesday.

The police commissioner said police evidence showed that Indian diplomats and consular staff collected information for the Indian government, which was used to instruct criminal organizations to carry out violence in Canada.
He said the Mounties (Canadian police) have also collected evidence of credible and imminent threats to members of the South Asian community, particularly members of the pro-Khalistan movement that demands a separate homeland for Sikhs.
