Raised industrial issues of the state before the high-level team of NITI Aayog
Punjab CM (Aaj Samaj), Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann demanded subsidies and incentives for Punjab industrialists before the high-level team of NITI Aayog. CM said this is the need of the hour. He said that being a border state, Punjab should be given ease of doing business on the lines of the hill states. Bhagwant Singh Mann said this would help ensure comprehensive industrial development of the state as the state had lagged behind in industrial development due to promotion of hilly areas.
Government and MSMEs will have to move forward together
Describing MSMEs as the backbone of the state’s economy, the Chief Minister said the government and MSMEs will have to work together for the rapid development of the state. He invited industry leaders to take advantage of the initiatives of the Punjab government to become globally competitive and shine on the global center stage. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in the development of the economy by contributing significantly to the gross domestic product (GDP), gross value added (GVA), employment generation and exports.
The Chief Minister said that MSMEs symbolize the deep-rooted entrepreneurial spirit that enriches the Indian economy and said that MSMEs have emerged as strong powerhouses over the years. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that from traditional artisans to innovative startups, MSMEs are poised for an extraordinary future with low capital requirements, high employment generation potential and the potential to promote sustainable economic growth, shared prosperity and poverty reduction. He said Punjab has been a leading state in all fields, be it fighting for national freedom, making the country self-reliant in food production or protecting the country’s borders.
The border with Pakistan is being damaged
The Chief Minister said that Punjab shares a 532-kilometre-long border with Pakistan, thus also acting as the country’s first line of defence.
