Punjab Crime News (Aaj Samaj), Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Gulshan Jain, a proclaimed offender (PO) linked to the multi-crore rice scam in Amritsar district. Gulshan Jain was declared a proclaimed offender by the court in 2019. Providing information in this regard, Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said that a case has been registered against 10 accused persons including directors/owners of Veeru Mal Mulkh Raj Rice Mill, who are relatives of Gulshan Jain.

Additionally, officials of the Punjab Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs have also been charged for their alleged involvement in misappropriation and theft of paddy rice allocated to the factory by state government procurement agencies. , worth approximately 33.6 million rupees.

These are also the defendants in this case.

The spokesperson said that the accused DFSO Raminder Singh Bath, AFSO Ms Vipan Sharma, Inspector Gurjinder Kumar, Statistics Technical Assistant (STA) Parminder Singh Bhatia and DFSC Amritpal Singh have already been arrested and challan has also been filed against them. in the corresponding court. It’s gone. He also informed that the directors/owners of the factory have also defrauded the Punjab National Bank at Jandiala Guru to the tune of approximately Rs 200 million.

The investigation of the case was handed over to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on April 24, 2018. Currently, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Vigilance Bureau is carrying out further investigations under the supervision of the Additional Inspector General (AIG), Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) at Mohali. Five accused, including Gulshan Jain, were declared offenders (PO) by the competent court in 2019.
