The Aam Aadmi Party had also raised illegal mining as an issue in the assembly elections. And now the government is developing a concrete strategy to address it.
Due to this, state Mining and Geology Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal called a meeting of high-level officials. In which he ordered officials to make a concrete strategy to stop illegal mining. During the meeting with senior officials at Punjab Bhawan, the Minister made it clear that if a case of illegal mining comes to light in the jurisdiction of any official, strict disciplinary action will be taken against that official.
Complaints are received frequently.
It should be noted that in areas where illegal mining occurs in large quantities, complaints are often received that officials are in collusion with illegal miners, so no action is taken against them and the game of illegal mining continues. full swing. In this regard, Goyal, after receiving detailed reports from the headquarters and district officials, ordered that the report of actions taken to stop illegal mining be sent to the government every 15 days.
He said the state government is fully committed to safeguarding the natural resources of the state and strict action is being taken against those who violate the law. He asked officials to maintain maximum contact with the people and carry out their tasks as a priority. He also said that supply of sand to the people at reasonable prices should be ensured so that the revenue of the state government can increase further.
