Supreme Court takes tough stance on stubble burning cases in state
Punjab News (Aaj Samaj), Chandigarh: The Supreme Court has once again criticized Haryana and Punjab for the continued rise in air pollution in northern India. In fact, despite the ban, leftover rice is burned in both states. Due to this, the layer of smoke in the air becomes deeper. Due to which the AQI is being recorded in very bad condition. The chief secretaries of Haryana and Punjab appeared before the Supreme Court in this regard. Where both state governments were reprimanded by the Supreme Court.
Governments that violate fundamental rights
During the hearing it was said that by not taking strict measures against pollution, governments are violating people’s fundamental rights. Let us tell you that living in a polluted environment is a serious violation of the fundamental rights set out in Article 21. Governments have been asked to take action as soon as possible in this matter. The next hearing in this case is November 4.
Punjab CM has already sought help from the Center
After failing to stop cases of stubble burning in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann sought help from the Central government. The CM had said that the Punjab government alone cannot deal with this problem. To address this, central government cooperation is needed. Mann said despite limited financial resources, the state government gives all kinds of concessions to farmers to enable them manage crop residue. Now the Central Government should also sit with the State Governments and make a strategy for a permanent solution to this problem.
