14 years after the murder of a homosexual in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, his partner has been arrested. After killing his homosexual partner, the accused hid her body in the kitchen of his rented house. The body was recovered a few days later in very poor condition. Since then the police were searching for the accused. But he evaded it and hid in Maharashtra.
According to the information, this murder incident took place on June 29, 2010. The name of the accused is Ramesh Desai. He lived in a rented house with his gay partner Manish Sahay. On the day of the incident there was an argument between them over some issue, after which both began to fight. Meanwhile, Ramesh killed Manish by hitting him with a brick. After this he stripped the body and taped it.
He then wrapped the body in cloth and hid it under sand and cement under the kitchen sink of his rented house. After committing the crime, accused Ramesh Desai fled on deceased Manish Sahay's moped. He stayed in Rajasthan for eight years. After this, he changed his identity and started working in a hotel in Mumbai. The mutilated body of Manish, 34 years old at the time, was recovered a few days later.
Considering the sensitive nature of this case, the Criminal Branch resumed the investigation several years after the murder and activated its sources to gather leads. “The suspect was eventually found at a place near Ahmedabad, on the way from Mumbai to Rajasthan. When he was interrogated, he initially gave a false identity but later confessed his real identity,” the Crime Branch said.
Accused Ramesh Desai told the police that he was in a homosexual relationship with Manish Sahay. On the day of the murder, there was a fight between the two, during which Desai attacked Sahay with a brick, seriously injuring him. After hiding the body in the same house, Desai fled and lived in Rajasthan for eight years. Police said he changed his name and had created new identification documents.
He had also taken out life insurance under his new name. After this, in the year 2017, he moved to Maharashtra permanently. There he started working as a senior manager in a hotel in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. But the police team that reinvestigated the case located him by connecting the links. Ramesh was going to Rajasthan for work. Meanwhile, the police set a trap and caught him.
DCP Ajit Rajiyan said that the accused Ramesh Desai said that he had homosexual relations with the deceased Manish Sahay. On June 26, 2010, he had gone to Hotel Panjri in Satellite, Ahmedabad, in search of work. They both returned to their room at 3 p.m. After returning, Manish started sexually abusing her private parts. During this time, he suddenly bit Manish on the chest and private parts. Due to this he was injured. After this there was a fight between the two. During this, Rameshan hit Manish on the head with a brick, due to which he died.
