Tamilnadu
The Tamil Nadu government has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the state on October 31 and November 1, after which all schools and colleges in the state will remain closed for four days. The state government issued a statement saying, “To celebrate this year’s Diwali on 31.10.2024, keeping in mind the convenience of students, teachers, parents and government officials returning to their hometowns, on 1.11.2024 declares a holiday.” There will be four days of vacation on November 2 and 3 due to Saturday and Sunday. However, to compensate for the holiday on November 2, it has been ordered to declare November 9 as a working day.

Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh
School holidays continue in Rajasthan schools from October 27 to November 7 on the occasion of Diwali. There will be a holiday in schools in Madhya Pradesh on October 31 and November 1, 2024, while schools will remain closed for four days on Saturdays and Sundays.
Bihar
The Bihar government has announced holidays in schools ahead of Diwali and then Chhath Puja. This year, schools will remain closed in Bihar from November 6 to 9 for Chhath Puja.
karnataka
The Karnataka government has declared Diwali holiday on October 31 in all schools and colleges. Also, Karnataka Rajotsav will be celebrated on November 1. Therefore, schools will remain closed in the state from October 31 to November 3.
