Security forces on Sunday arrested a suspect who was helping terrorists in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Weapons and ammunition have also been recovered.
According to the news agency report, on this arrest, the police said that based on specific information, the police, army and CRPF personnel arrested the terrorist’s aide while searching vehicles in Unisu area.
The arrested person has been identified as Ishfaq Majeed Dar, a resident of Latti Short in Sopore area. During the search, incriminating material, a pistol, two magazines, 12 bullets and a mobile phone were seized.
Police said a case was registered against the accused at Handwara police station and further investigation was launched. An official said security forces are making continuous efforts to identify terrorist associates and take strict action against them.
The interrogation takes place in a secret location.
He said that during the interrogation of the detainee there is a possibility of obtaining more information that could also expose other networks related to terrorist activities. It may be noted that security forces are continuously carrying out joint operations to suppress terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. The objective of this action is to maintain peace and stability in the area.
After this arrest, the security forces have called on citizens so that if they obtain information about any suspicious activity, they immediately inform the security agencies, so that any possible threat can be stopped in time.
