Budhni: Union minister and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Friday said that like Haryana, the Congress will have to face defeat in the assembly elections to be held in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Taking aim at Congress, he said that during his government there was a decline in infrastructure development in the country. In the elections to the 90-seat Haryana Assembly, the BJP won 48 seats, while the Congress could win only 37 seats. Chouhan said these things while addressing a rally during the nomination submission of BJP candidate Ramakant Bhargava from Madhya Pradesh Budhni Assembly seat.
“The Congress Party is not going to win anything now”
Addressing the rally, Chauhan said, ‘Congress was defeated in Haryana and will have to face defeat in Maharashtra and Jharkhand too. The Congress Party is not going to win anywhere now. After winning from Vidisha in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Chauhan resigned from the Budhni seat, necessitating a by-election. The Congress has given ticket to former minister Rajkumar Patel from the Budhni seat. Patel had won this seat in 1993, but had to face defeat in the 2006 elections against Chauhan.
Shivraj has been continuously elected from Budhni since 2006.
Let us tell you that from 2006 to 2023, Chauhan has been continuously elected among Budhni. Earlier, Chauhan had won from this seat for the first time in 1990. The Union Agriculture Minister said that whenever he contested the Budhni elections, it was the party workers who contested the elections for him and decided his victory. Shivraj said, “Just as the party workers fought for me in the elections, they will fight for Ramakant Bhargava and ensure his victory by getting more votes than I got.”
‘There were no roads in the area during the Congress government’
Chauhan said he left no stone unturned for the development of Budhni. He said, ‘There were no roads in the area during the Congress government. People had to ride horses to go anywhere. If someone had used those roads, their condition would have worsened. But after the BJP came to power in 2003 and I became Chief Minister, I opened a school, then an excellent school, a CM Rise school, an ITI college and also established a medical college in the constituency.’ (Language)
