West Indies squad announced for ODI series against England.
After finishing the Test tour of Pakistan, the England team has now reached the West Indies tour, where they have to play a series of three ODIs and 5 T20 matches. In this tour, they will first have to play the ODI series, the first match of which will be played on October 31. In this sense, the team has been announced by Cricket West Indies, in which although the places of some players have been intact, Shimron Hetmyer has returned to the ODI team after a long time. Hetmyer also played his last ODI match against the England team. In this series, Shai Hope will be seen taking up the responsibility of captaining the West Indies team.
Hetmyer was left out of the team due to poor form
Shimron Hetmyer played his last ODI match in the month of December last year, after which he has now seen his return to the West Indies team in this format. The main reason for Hetmyer’s exclusion was his continued poor form. The West Indies team played their last ODI series in the recently concluded tour of Sri Lanka, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat. In this series, while the England team’s eyes will be on preparations for next year’s Champions Trophy, the West Indies will play to remain in the race for their place in the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027. The selection of the West Indies could not qualify for the ODI World Cup to be held in India in 2023, so it is not part of the Champions Trophy to be held next year.
