A shocking case of negligence has come to light in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Here a man cremated someone else's body in place of his dead wife. After the last rites, he was busy preparing for his wife's thirteenth funeral when he learned that the body for which he had performed the last rites was not his wife's at all.
The woman whose last rites were performed by the man was not pregnant, while his wife, who had disappeared from their home before his “death”, was six months pregnant anyway. His wife was missing anyway. After the woman disappeared, an unclaimed body was found. Upon seeing the clothes on that body, the wife's brother had identified her in the morgue as my sister. Later, the police conducted the autopsy and handed over the body to the husband. The husband performed his last rites, but when the post-mortem report came, it was found that the woman whose last rites were performed was not pregnant.
Vijay Kumar, a resident of Gujaini, Kanpur, married his wife Komal on March 12 this year. Vijay is a bakery employee. Their marriage was going well, but suddenly, on October 18, Komal disappeared from their house. Komal's maternal home was in Kaushambi. When Vijay informed his in-laws, they came from there and a lot of inquiries were made. Then on October 19, Vijay filed a missing complaint against his wife at the Gujaini police station.
Later, on October 20, the body of a woman was found abandoned in Gujaini's Pandav canal. The police could not identify him so they held him in the morgue. Then on October 23, Komal's brother Dheeraj went to his aunt and saw the abandoned woman's body and after seeing the clothes, he said this is my sister's body. After this, the police conducted post-mortem on the body and handed it over to husband Vijay. Vijay performed the last rites of that body on the same day. Everyone thought that Komal might have somehow reached near Pandu Nagar and drowned there.
Now, when the post mortem report came out, husband Vijay was shocked to see where his son, who was growing in his wife's womb, had gone. Because the body that was found was not pregnant, that is, the body that was post mortem was not pregnant and if the post mortem report did not find that it was pregnant, then that body was not that of his wife. After this, Vijay contacted the police. Police said his brother-in-law had identified the body in the autopsy house. In this case, SHO of Gujaini Police Station Vinay Tiwari says that if this body was not that of Komal, now through DNA it will be identified whose body it was. His wife's whereabouts will also be investigated and the woman whose last rites he performed will be discovered.
