If you are preparing for JEE Main, you will find this news useful. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has provided some relief to students from the disabled category. The agency has issued guidelines for JEE Main 2025 with respect to candidates belonging to the categories of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Persons with Baseline Disabilities (PwBD). This announcement was made after several inquiries regarding the provision of scribes and extra time for these students. Please note that NTA will soon release the syllabus schedule for JEE Mains 2025 in a few days.

What discount has been made?

As per the official notification, PwD and PwBD candidates will be given an additional hour of makeup time for the 3-hour JEE Main 2025 standard exam, taking their total time to 4 hours. Additionally, candidates may request to provide the required documents.

What was said in the notification?

The official notice read: “The National Testing Agency has been receiving several queries regarding issues related to scribe and compensatory time for physically challenged and handicapped candidates. The guidelines for JEE Main with reference to relevant extracts from the Office Memorandum and Government Notification: the instructions. to follow are detailed below.”

As per the official notification, the term “extra time” or “additional time” is now replaced with “compensatory time.” Candidates who qualify for the use of scribe, reader, or laboratory assistant will receive a minimum of 20 minutes of makeup time per exam hour.

You will get an extra hour

Additionally, all eligible PwBD candidates are guaranteed an additional 1 hour for the 3-hour exam, regardless of whether they use the scribe facilities or not. This additional time must be at least 5 minutes and must be allocated in multiples of 5 minutes.
