Prayagraj: Mohammad Mujtaba Siddiqui, candidate for Samajwadi Party’s Phulpur assembly seat, also filed his nomination on Wednesday. The Congress demanded this seat from the SP. According to sources, Akhilesh Yadav had also spoken to the Congress high command in this regard. Since then it was expected that the SP could cede this seat to the Congress, but after the nomination of the SP candidate, the speculations have almost come to an end.
Mujtaba Siddiqui said: No message was received from the party high command
After filing his nomination, SP candidate Mohammad Mujtaba Siddiqui said he had not received any message from the party high command. He also claimed victory after his nomination. He said he will contest the by-elections as a joint candidate of the Indian Alliance. It also receives full support from the alliance parties. Mujtaba Siddiqui has said that the SP had gained a lead of 18,000 votes in the Phulpur seat in the Lok Sabha elections. Therefore, his margin of victory in the by-election will increase further.
