Vijayapura: The Waqf Board has reclaimed 1,200 acres of land from farmers in Vijayapura, Karnataka. The Waqf Board has also issued an advisory to farmers. Now, after this notice from the Waqf Board, the political uproar has intensified. In fact, Shah Aminuddin Dargah has expressed his rights over 1,200 acres of land in Honwada village of Vijaypura district. The local Tehsildar issued a notice to the land-owning farmers and sought their response. Meanwhile, farmers of Honwada village in Tikota Taluka have complained about this to local MLA and Congress government minister MB Patil.
Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan met with
The farmers have alleged that the authorities concerned are trying to designate this area as a religious institution of Muslims associated with Shah Aminuddin Dargah. The Tehsildar issued a notice and citing old government records, the lands were declared belonging to the Waqf Board. According to farmers, State Housing, Waqf and Minority Welfare Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan had held a meeting with Waqf officials earlier this month. In this meeting the “invasion” of Waqf lands was discussed. After these discussions, the authorities attempted to eliminate the 'illegal intrusion' and under this this controversial notice was sent.
Notice sent to farmers after meeting
In the notice given to the farmers, it is said that this land belongs to Shah Aminuddin Dargah. Farmers say this Dargah has not existed for centuries, while their families have owned these lands for generations. Some 41 farmers were served notices and asked to submit ownership documents. The Waqf Board claims that this notice is based on the Gazette advertisement of 1974. According to the Waqf Board, the state government identified the land as Waqf property and it was published. However, some notices were sent to farmers in error. According to the Waqf Board, if farmers have valid land records, the Waqf Board will not take any action against them.
BJP accused Congress government
Farmers are under stress after receiving the notice. Farmers have warned of mass protests. Honwada farmers have declared that they are ready to fight to protect their rights. They have committed to continue their fight until they obtain justice. After meeting minister MB Patil, Vijaypura farmers also met BJP MP Tejashwi Surya. Tejashwi Surya alleged that to please a particular religion, the Congress government is conspiring to hand over farmers' lands to the Waqf Board. Minister MB Patil has promised to give justice to farmers in this issue.
The government exploits farmers
Prabhu Gowda, a farmer, said: 'The Waqf Board is conspiring with the state government to grab land from us farmers. If the Waqf Board seizes 4 acres, 10 acres, 5 acres of land, farmers will have no option but to consume poison. We will have to beg for food, how we will marry our children, if we go to the bank to get a loan on our land documents, the bankers will say that they will give the loan only if they bring NOC from the Waqf Board. How would this be possible? This government is exploiting us farmers a lot. We cannot tolerate this injustice.
Farmers threatened to commit suicide
Another farmer Arvind Kulkarni said, “Till date, the name of the Waqf Board has never appeared in the documents and notices sent earlier, but since Minister Jamir came here, the DC sent a notice in the name of the Waqf Board. the next day”. . Gave. This notice is shocking for farmers. It's lucky no one has had a heart attack yet. Farmers say they will have a heart attack or consume poison. If even one centimeter of our land is taken away from us, we will have no choice but to sacrifice our lives. We will all commit suicide in front of the district magistrate's office.
