Ahoi Ashtami 2024 | Ambalá. Ashtami Ahoi (Ahoy Ashtami 2024 vrat) The festival is celebrated with great pomp. Every year, the festival of Ahoi Ashtami falls 4 days after Karva Chauth and a week before Diwali. The Ahoi Ashtami festival has great importance in Indian culture. This fast is observed by married women.
Previously, this fast was mainly observed by women who had children, but now women who do not have children do it to wish for a child. Kartik Krish Ashtami’s rapid fall is celebrated on October 24 this year. Women observe fasting for the long life of their children and to protect them from all problems or obstacles in their life.
Women pray for the long life of their children by keeping Nirjala fast.
Married women observe this fast in the morning before sunrise. To do this, from the first night an effigy with eight corbels is written on the wall. Photographs of Sei and Sei’s children are also taken. The Kalash is set by filling a square on the ground. And then the Ashtami written on the wall is worshiped.
After which milk and rice are offered and the story is told. However, with modernity, the practice of making drawings on walls is also decreasing. Now women buy ready-made paintings of Ahoi Ashtami in the market and install them at the place of worship. Dhobi Maran Leela is also performed in many places on this day. In which Shri Krishna is shown killing the washerman sent by Kansa.
Moneylender’s Story on Ahoi Ashtami Fasting
Ahoi Ashtami fast (Ahoy Ashtami 2024 vrat) There are many common stories about it. According to one such story, in ancient times a moneylender lived with his seven children. Before Diwali, the moneylender’s wife went to look for soil to plaster the house and started digging the soil with a shovel.
In the place where he was digging the earth, there was a den of lions. The shovel hit Seh’s son and the boy died there. So the woman returned home regretting the murder committed with her own hands.
The woman’s son died a few days after this incident. Then the second, the third, the fourth and after a year all his children died. The woman, saddened by the death of her children, told the women in her neighborhood that she had never intentionally committed any sin.
Yes, once, while he was digging the ground by mistake, one of his sons died, only after which his seven sons became dear to God. Hearing this, the old women of the neighborhood consoled her and told her that you repented of your sin, so half of your sin was destroyed.
The women advised him to fast on Ashtami at the Bhagwati Mata shelter by drawing pictures of Seh and Seh’s children and asking for forgiveness. By the grace of God all your sins will be destroyed. The moneylender’s wife, following the advice of the old women, observed a fast on Krishnapaksh Ashtami of the month of Kartik and worshiped her. That’s why he started fasting like this every year. After some time, the pawnbroker’s wife was blessed with seven children. Thereafter, Ahoi Ashtami started quickly.
Story of moneylender Chandrabhan and his wife Chandrika
There is another popular story about Ahoi fasting. According to this story, a long time ago Chandrabhan, a moneylender, lived with his wife Chandrika near Jhansi. Sati, the moneylender’s wife, was a saintly, good-natured and intelligent woman. They both had many sons and daughters but they all died in infancy.
Both husband and wife were very distressed at not having children. The only thing he was worried about was who would take care of his property after him. So they both decided to go into exile and worship God. They both left their homes and headed to the forest. They both reached Badrika Ashram in the same way.
Where both decided to sacrifice their lives by fasting. When both of them remained without food for 7 days, a voice from heaven told them not to sacrifice their lives. All the sufferings you have had to face until now were sins from your previous lives. If both of them fast and worship Ahoi Mata on Krishna Paksha Ashtami of the month of Kartik, then Ahoi Devi will be pleased and will give them physical darshan.
You ask him for the blessing of having long-lived children. On the fasting day, you bathe in Radhakund. Chandrika observed the fast and worshiped Ahoi Mata on Ahoi Ashtami according to the rituals told by Akashvani and then bathed in Radhakund. When they arrived home after bathing, Ahoi Mata appeared to the couple and asked them to ask for a groom. The loan shark couple folded their hands and said that all their children left this world at a young age.
Give our children the blessing of longevity. So be it! Saying that Ahoi Mata disappeared. After a while, the lender couple had long-lived children and began to live their family life happily. Goddess Parvati is considered to be the goddess who makes untoward things happen, therefore on Ahoi Ashtami, Mata Parvati is worshiped and wishes are made for a long and happy life for children.
