New Delhi: Diwali celebrations may fizzle out in many parts of the country this week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in many states. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to be clear in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. While there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh.
The rains are expected to continue here until November 3.
The meteorological department has also forecast light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in several parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, coastal Lakshadweep and south Karnataka. In fact, the effect of Cyclone Dana still persists in these areas. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may receive sporadic rains from October 31 to November 3, while thunderstorms and lightning are expected in interior areas of Karnataka until November 2. There may also be sporadic rains in Kerala, Mahi and Lakshadweep between November 3.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places in Goa, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim today and tomorrow. The department said light to moderate rain is expected in West Bengal and Sikkim on October 30 and 31. There is a possibility of light to moderate rains in Kolkata, the capital of Bengal.

Light snowfall is expected in the highlands of Gilgit-Baltistan.
