First day’s play ends, Australia score 67/7
Still 83 runs behind India on first innings basis
1st Test Ind vs Aus Day 1 (Aaj Samaj), Sports Desk: Team India has made a tremendous comeback on the back of the first innings in the first Test match played in Perth under the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Apart from sending Australia’s top order back to the pavilion, the team also took 7 wickets for just 67 runs. Thus, at the end of the first day of play, the host team is still 83 runs behind India’s score, while it has only three wickets left. Earlier, the Indian team was out for 150 runs in 49.4 overs. So the host team was expected to take a good lead in the first test match but the Indian bowlers counter-attacked and pushed the host team back.
Indian fast bowlers performed brilliantly
While leading the Indian bowling defending 150 runs, Jasprit Bumrah did not give the Australian batsmen a chance to survive. Bumrah took four Australian wickets and pushed them back. While Mohammad Siraj supported his captain well by taking two wickets and Harshit Rana took one wicket.
Josh Hazlewood is Australia’s most successful
Josh Hazlewood was the most successful bowler among Australia’s bowlers. He dismissed four Indian players. Apart from this, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh sacked two players each.
