Kailash Gehlot has resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party and the post of minister in the Delhi government. With the assembly elections just a few months away, this is being seen as a big blow to the Aam Aadmi Party. Who will now take charge of the ministries left vacant after Gehlot’s resignation? This question resonates in political circles. The discussion was whether any other MLA would be made minister in the Atishi government. Meanwhile, a big update has emerged in this regard.
In fact, after the resignation of Kailash Gehlot, there are now a total of 4 ministers left in Atishi’s cabinet. Gehlot had five ministries in the Delhi government. These include the departments of Transport, Administrative Reforms, Information and Technology, Home and Women and Child Development. CM Atishi has now decided to take charge of these departments himself. He has sent a proposal in this regard to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena.
AAP calls resignation a BJP conspiracy
We told you that the AAP termed Kailash Gehlot’s resignation as a BJP conspiracy. MP Sanjay Singh said that Gehlot ji is reading the script written by BJP. He said the BJP has been successful in its conspiracy and low-level politics.
On the allegations made by Kailash Gehlot in his resignation, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said, ‘Kailash Gehlot was under pressure from the BJP. He was questioned by ED. Gehlot was being investigated by central agencies including CBI-ED. Gehlot’s accusations cannot be formulated like that, because he was part of the government for five years. BJP has given a script to Gehlot, he will have to work accordingly.
Gehlot made many serious allegations in his resignation letter.
We inform you that senior party leader and Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot has resigned as a senior member of AAP today. Upon resigning, Kailash Gehlot wrote a letter to AAP national coordinator Arvind Kejriwal in which he made many allegations. In a letter to Kejriwal, he wrote: “For example, we had promised to make the Yamuna a clean river, but we could never do it. Now the Yamuna river is more polluted than before. Another painful thing is that instead of fighting for the rights of the people, we only fight for our political agenda. Due to this, the people of Delhi are facing difficulties in providing even basic services.
Kailash Gehlot wrote that there are many embarrassing and strange controversies like Naya Bangla, which are now making everyone doubt whether we still believe in being a common man. It is now clear that if the Delhi government continues to spend most of its time fighting with the Centre, nothing can happen to Delhi.
Has Kailash Gehlot’s resignation been decided yet?
When prominent Aam Aadmi Party leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh were in Tihar jail, Kailash Gehlot’s growing closeness to the lieutenant governor’s secretariat had become a topic of discussion. The tension between the Delhi government and the lieutenant governor is not new as most ministers avoid attending meetings called by the lieutenant governor. But Kailash Gehlot seemed different from this standard.
After Kejriwal’s arrest, when the rift between the Delhi government and the lieutenant governor had deepened, Gehlot regularly made his presence felt at the lieutenant governor’s secretariat. He continued to attend meetings related to his departments. This becomes even more important when Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena also actively participated in the inauguration ceremonies related to Gehlot apartments.
The BJP’s stance on this issue was also interesting. While the party used to attack other Aam Aadmi Party ministers, the absence of any major attack on Kailash Gehlot was clearly visible.
A look at the ongoing investigation against Kailash Gehlot
The resignation of Kailash Gehlot is also being discussed, because the allegations against him and subsequently his closeness to the BJP are also being discussed loudly. At the same time, the same BJP party had become aggressive and leveled allegations against Gehlot. Vijendra Gupta, the current opposition leader in Delhi, was the first to loudly raise the TTD scam in the Assembly.
Talking about the ongoing investigation against Kailash Gehlot, CBI is conducting an investigation in the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus procurement case of the year 2021. This matter started in 2020, when the Delhi government called for tenders for the purchase of 1,000 buses. The opposition had alleged that Rs 4.5 billion was being spent in the name of bus maintenance, which was considered a huge scam. As a result, the then lieutenant governor Anil Baijal decided to form a three-member High Power Committee and simply stopped the bidding.
Apart from this, Kailash Gehlot has also been involved in the Delhi liquor scam. He worked closely with Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain in crafting Delhi’s liquor policy. He was also questioned about this in March 2024.
