In Georgia, United States, a woman was arrested by police for allegedly endangering her child. In reality, the woman’s son had wandered only some distance from the house. The boy is only 10 years old and has covered a distance of less than a kilometer. For this reason his mother was arrested by the police. The woman was charged with endangering her 10-year-old son. Authorities accused the woman of failing to supervise her son, causing him to wander about a mile from her home.

A 41-year-old woman named Brittany Patterson took her second child to the doctor on October 30. The Fannin County Sheriff’s Department called the woman and informed her that her son Soren had left the house and gone to town. The woman was a little worried at first, but not too much for her safety.

obliged to pay bail

The helper came and dropped Soren at home. Patterson thought the whole matter was over after his son’s return. But a few hours later, Sheriff’s Department deputies went to the family’s home and arrested Patterson. The woman was arrested and taken into custody. After that, the woman was forced to post $500 bail.

Patterson felt very bad about this. While speaking to the media, he said that at that moment he felt angry and frustrated. Because my kids were watching the sheriff’s department deputies do this. He asked me to put my hands back and at that moment I couldn’t understand what I had done to be treated like that.

Always keep children under supervision.

Sheriff’s Department officials gave Patterson the condition that if he signed a safety plan, his children would never leave the house alone. This plan must guarantee that your children will always be under supervision. Patterson said officials pressured him to sign the plan. It was said that if he signs it, the charges against him will be dropped. Patterson refused to sign the form. The woman said she would oppose this false accusation, which could result in a prison sentence of up to one year.

Patterson said this is not right, I have done nothing wrong, I will fight for it. Patterson’s attorney, David DeLugas, asked in court if parents would now always have to know the exact location of their children. That being said, will all parents have to put a GPS on their children? Parents usually make the right decisions for their children.
