A two-day regional conference on ‘Good Governance’ began in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Thursday. Officials said State Finance Minister OP Chaudhary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances of Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Department of Good Governance and Convergence of Chhattisgarh Government initiated the regional conference. on good governance in Nava Raipur. He said that the conference was organized to discuss issues related to best practices of good governance, citizen empowerment, functioning of governance and administration and use of various electronic platforms to facilitate access of citizen services to the general public, etc.

Inaugurating the conference, Finance Minister Chaudhary said that good governance is an important factor for development, which not only leads to orderly development of the country but also improves the lives of citizens. He said innovations like Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission, GST, ‘GEM Portal’ and ‘Digital Inclusion’ initiated at the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have brought great change in the country.

Officials said Indian Administrative Service and Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions officials from across the country, including Chhattisgarh, are discussing innovations, best practices and people-oriented jobs at the conference. that are being carried out for good governance. In his address at the inaugural session of the conference, Finance Minister Chaudhary said bureaucracy will play an important role in making India a $55 trillion economy by 2047. He told Indian Administrative Service officials several states that participated in the conference that for good governance, innovation and change, one has to change oneself because only those who change over time will remain relevant. Officials said that in today’s first session, different innovations happening in four states were shared. He said SN Tripathi, Director General of the Indian Institute of Public Administration, chaired this session.

Solar-based schemes will save money

Anurag Srivastava, director of Jal Jeevan mission in Uttar Pradesh, explained in detail the successful solar-based water supply schemes there. He said solar-based water supply schemes will save Rs 1 lakh crore in the next 30 years in Uttar Pradesh. These plans will also reduce carbon emissions. V Kirti Vasan, district magistrate of Koraput district of Orissa, briefed about the innovation being made to provide employment to the local people through the Rural Industrial Complex. Thavasilan, an Indian Administrative Service officer from Nagaland, shared the innovation of the Nagaland Health Protection Society and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme in his state. Through these, cashless health insurance service is provided to the people there and also to the people outside the state.

Resolve income issues with modern techniques

At the conference, Madhya Pradesh Revenue Department Deputy Commissioner Alka Singh briefed the officials about the cyber tehsil-related innovations initiated there since February. There, online registration of land and immediate transfer of name is done through ‘Sampada’ portal. Revenue problems are being solved rapidly with the use of modern technologies. After digitization of ‘land records’ in the state, 13 Tehsildars run 1,364 revenue courts. Senior IAS officers from the state of Chhattisgarh along with 150 delegates from different states of the country are participating in this conference. (PTI input-language)
