Achalpur assembly seat of Amravati district of Maharashtra is one of the important seats of the state. Here is also Bachchu Kadu, who has been winning independent elections continuously since 2004. In 2019, Bachchu Kadu formed his own party, called Prahar Janshakti Party, and participated in the elections with the same list and won in 2019.

Bachchu Kadu’s party, which laid the foundation of the Prahar Janshakti Party, had already won two seats in the elections. These include Melghat and Achalpur. Bachchu Kadu’s full name is Omprakash. Due to his sharp politics, Bachchu Kadu is a very popular politician among the tribals. Bachchu Kadu has been winning this seat continuously since 2004.

What happened in the last elections?

In the 2019 Assembly elections, Achalpur seat Bachchu Kadu alias Omprakash formed a party and contested the elections on his ticket. He called the party Prahar Janshakti Party. Congress’s Anirudh Deshmukh and Shiv Sena’s Sunita Fiske contested unsuccessfully. Bachchu Kadu got 81,252 votes, Anirudh got 72,856 votes.

There are around 17% Dalit voters in the Achalpur seat. Tribal communities account for about 6%. Tribal voters act as a game changer in this seat. The Muslim population is also good here. The Muslim population here has 18% of the votes. About 60% are rural voters and the rest are voters from urban areas.
