Bareilly: A fraud case has come to light with retired DSP Jagdish Singh Patni, father of Bollywood actress Disha Patni. In this case, the police registered a case against five people on Friday. Officials said the actress’s father was defrauded of Rs 25 lakh in order to get a higher position in the government and that of chairman and vice-chairman of the commission.

Bareilly Kotwali SHO DK Sharma gave information about the incident. He said that on behalf of Jagdish Singh Patni, a case was registered on Friday night against five persons including Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jai Prakash of Juna Akhara, Prati Garg. Following the complaint received, an FIR has been lodged at the Bareilly police station for fraud, forgery and money swindling.

SHO DK Sharma said that the locations of the accused are being identified and strict action will be taken against them. He said Jagdish Singh Patni, a resident of Bareilly Civil Lines area, alleged that Shivendra Pratap Singh was his acquaintance. Shivendra introduced him to Diwakar Garg and Acharya Jaiprakash of Juna Akhara. These people claimed to have extensive political contacts and promised to get them president, vice president, or other prestigious positions on government commissions. He said that after gaining trust, the accused took a total of Rs 25 lakh from Jagdish Singh Patni. Of this, Rs 5 lakh in cash and Rs 20 lakh were transferred to three different bank accounts.
He continued to bluff for months.
Meanwhile, victim Jagdish Singh Patni alleged that when no work was done in three months, the accused promised to return the money with interest. Later, when he asked for his money back, she began threatening him. He said that initially the accused claimed that the work was in progress and to give false confidence they were introduced to a person who posed as a special duty officer. However, even after several months, the promise was not fulfilled. (entrance-agency)
