Nursery admission started in private schools in Delhi

If you want your children to get admission in nursery class in private schools in Delhi, this news is for you. We inform you that the nursery admission process will begin in around 1,741 private schools in the Union Territory from Thursday, November 28, for which the registration process has also begun. The Department of Education (DOE), Government of Delhi announced this by issuing a circular on November 12. The circular states that the admission process for Nursery, KG and Class 1 in private schools in the city for the 2025-26 academic year will begin on November 28.

When is the last date?

It was further said that the last date for submission of registration form is December 20 and the first general admission list will be published on January 17, 2025. Many schools have decided and uploaded their admission criteria.

All private schools will upload the list of children who applied on January 10 on the score list website based on the 100-mark criterion. After this, all schools will publish the first list of selected children on January 17.

What are the admission criteria?

  • The criteria for many schools are neighborhood, distance and proximity to schools, while girls, single girls, brothers and singing parents are also other criteria on the list.
  • Some schools have also listed criteria for Sikh and Christian minorities, economically disadvantaged groups, and parents with physical disabilities.
  • Some schools have also given importance to some areas and sectors on the list.
  • Recognized and unaided private schools use a points system for the selection process, where 30 to 100 points will be awarded for meeting various criteria.
  • While most schools have marked neighborhoods and remote areas with top scores between 30 and 90.

More than 900 schools did not raise the criteria

According to the Directorate of Education, only 778 of 1,741 schools have raised their criteria, while 963 have not yet met them. We reported that the Directorate of Education had directed all schools to upload the criteria on their official websites by November 25.

We inform that recognized and unaided private schools have been directed to reserve 25 per cent of their seats for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG) and disabled children. Separate admission lists will be published for these categories.

What is the age limit for which class?

In another circular, the minimum age for admission till March 31, 2025 has been fixed at 3 years for Nursery, 4 years for KG and 5 years for Class 1. It says that the maximum age limit for Nursery is less than 4 years, for KG less than 5 years and for Class 1 less than 6 years. At the same time, it was further said that it is not mandatory to purchase the booklet and the registration fee can only be paid for Rs 25.
