Violence broke out in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday. In the clash between protesters opposing the inspection of Jama Masjid and the police, four people, 20 security personnel and four administrative staff, were killed and many others were injured. During this, stones and bricks were thrown, protesters set vehicles on fire and threw stones at police, after which police used tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd.
20 police officers injured and the deputy collector’s leg broken
Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh said the miscreants opened fire, the SP PRO was shot in the leg, the CO was hit by shrapnel and 20 security personnel were injured in the violence. He said one constable also suffered serious head injuries, while the deputy collector suffered a fractured leg. Internet services were closed for 24 hours in Sambhal tehsil, the district administration declared a holiday for all students up to class 12 on November 25. By order of the DM, the entry of foreigners has been prohibited until December 1, so the city’s border has been closed.
These 4 people lost their lives in Sambhal violence
Four people were killed in the Sambhal violence. The deceased were identified as Naeem, Bilal Ansari, Nauman and Mohammad Kaif. Nauman and Bilal Ansari were buried at 11:00 p.m. A complaint has been filed with the National Human Rights Commission over the violence. A private organization also sent a video to the Commission alleging the death of four youths due to police firing in Sambhal.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said in a post on A case should be registered for disclosure. The Bar Association should also take disciplinary and punitive action against him. Akhilesh said there was and is no expectation from the Uttar Pradesh administration.

21 people, including 2 women, arrested
Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh said the police have used pellet guns, but no weapon that could cause death was used. 21 people have been arrested. Many types of weapons have been recovered from them. Casings of different calibers have been recovered at the place where the shooting took place. Weapons have also been recovered from the homes of those detained.
The NSA will be imposed on people involved in violence
The shooting took place from a house in the Nakhasa police station area, where two women were arrested. There has been tension in Sambhal since Tuesday, when a poll was carried out at Jama Masjid on the orders of a local court. The petition stated that there was a Harihar temple at that place. Anjaneya Kumar Singh said 21 people, including two women, have been detained, an investigation has been launched and those involved in the violence will be prosecuted under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).
