According to data from the Ministry, airlines operated 3,173 flights on Sunday (November 17) and 5,05,412 passengers traveled on these flights.
Demand is expected to remain strong even in winter
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu said these figures show that air travel is now within the reach of more people. He said this achievement was achieved due to schemes like Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (Udaan). The UDAN regional air connectivity scheme was launched in October 2016. Gaurav Patwari, vice president (air category) at travel platform Cleartrip, said, “The main reasons for the increase in passenger numbers are festive demand and the start of the weddings. We expect demand to remain strong even in winter.
Record of provision of timely services by affected airlines
However, in recent times, the on-time delivery (OTP) record of airlines has been affected for various reasons. Indigo’s OTP was 74.2 per cent on Sunday. It was followed by Alliance Air with 71 percent and Akasa Air with 67.6 percent. Among other airlines, the OTP of SpiceJet and Air India was 66.1 per cent and 57.1 per cent respectively.
The winter program will run until March 29, 2025.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) had announced in October that Indian airlines would operate 25,007 weekly flights from 124 airports in the winter schedule that would begin on October 27. The winter program will begin on October 27, 2024 and continue until March 29, 2025.
