Minister of Technical Education, Urban Planning, Housing, Vocational and Industrial Training Rajesh Dharmani participated as chief guest in the third alumni meet of Polytechnic Alumni Association (SPSA) organized at the auditorium of Government Polytechnic Institute Sundernagar on Sunday. Sundernagar assembly constituency MLA Rakesh Jamwal participated in the program as a special guest.
On this occasion, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani unveiled the statue of Bharat Ratna engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya by garlanding it and started the program by lighting the lamp.
In his speech on this occasion he said that the alumni meeting is very important. These events give alumni the opportunity to meet faculty and other staff after years and also have the opportunity to see the various changes that have taken place at the university over the years.
He said that the senior citizens associated with the Alumni Association have helped solve the problems of the society and have rendered lifelong services for the development of Himachal. Alumni are brand ambassadors of any institution. He said Sundernagar Polytechnic Institute is the oldest institute in Himachal. The students here bring glory to the state with their services in various positions in the country and abroad. The Alumni Association is doing commendable work to improve the Sundernagar Polytechnic Institute. He urged the new students to join the Sangh and take the institute on the path of continuous progress.
He said that the alumni association is also carrying out various social works, in which they recently donated Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. He said that the Polytechnic Alumni Association has spent around Rs 5 crore for the development works of Sundernagar.
Let us tell you that Sundernagar Polytechnic Institute was started in the year 1959 and this institute is NAAC Accredited Institute. The students who have graduated here have left their indelible mark in all fields over the last 65 years. Whether it is the field of engineering, education or politics. SPSA was established in 2015 and has been in existence for almost 10 years. In the last 5 years, around 1400 new members were added to this association and this trend continues.
In the program, former students of the Polytechnic Institute shared their opinions and refreshed their memories with various presentations.
Students of Sundernagar Polytechnic Institute presented cultural programs in the programme.
Present on this occasion were Director Technical Education Department Akshay Sood, Deputy Director Dinesh Sharma, Principal Sundernagar Polytechnic Institute Anita Joshi, Principal Udaipur Polytechnic Institute Meena Guleria, General Secretary Old Men’s Association OP Rahi students and other dignitaries.
