Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a review meeting on paddy procurement at his official residence on Friday. During the review, the Chief Minister stated that the government is ready to provide all possible help to farmers. People involved in agricultural work should take special care to ensure that they do not face any inconvenience while purchasing rice. Set district targets for paddy rice procurement in accordance with the estimated paddy rice production. We must also be attentive to those who create irregularities in the rice procurement work. The work of purchasing rice should be done faster and better so that the farmers do not face any kind of problem.
During this, through a presentation, Dr. N. Sarvan Kumar, Secretary, Department of Food and Consumer Protection, gave detailed information on the minimum support price of rice, the proposed rice procurement period and the target of purchase of rice in Kharif marketing year. 2024-25.
The MSP of rice is Rs 2,300. per quintal
Secretary Dr N. Saravan Kumar said this time the minimum support price of normal quality rice has been maintained at Rs 2,300 per quintal. The proposed period for rice procurement was kept from November 1, 2024 to February 15, 2025. The rice procurement process was started gradually and this year the rice procurement target was set at 45 lakh metric tons. The number of milled rice mills in the state has increased to 360.
Rice procurement work began
In today’s meeting, Cooperative Department Secretary Dharmendra Singh also gave information on the action plan for paddy procurement. He said that in the first phase, rice procurement has been started in 19 districts of the state from today, while in the remaining districts the rice procurement work will be started from November 15.
In the meeting, Cooperative Minister Dr. Prem Kumar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary Amritlal Meena, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, Secretary Food and Consumer Protection Department Dr. . N. Sarvan Kumar Chief Minister’s Secretary Anupam Kumar, Chief Minister’s Special Duty Officer Gopal Singh, Cooperative Department Secretary Dharmendra Singh and other senior officials were present.
