Maharashtra Assembly elections were held on November 20. Voting took place in all 288 seats in the assembly. The results will be known today i.e. November 23, after which it will be clear who will come to power in Maharashtra this time. This time the main contest in Maharashtra is between Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi. If we talk about the Arjuni-Morgaon assembly seat, the main contest here is between the NCP and the Congress. While Badole Rajkumar Sudam was in the fray on the NCP side, Bansod Dilip Vaman was on the Congress side.

Arjuni Morgaon is one of the 288 assembly constituencies of the state of Maharashtra. This constituency is one of the three constituencies located in Gondia district. The economy of Arjuni Morgaon is mainly based on agriculture and most of the people are farmers or agricultural workers. There are many rice mills in Arjuni Morgaon. It is part of the Bhandara-Gondiya Lok Sabha constituency. And also five other assembly constituencies namely Sakoli, Bhandara, Gondia, Tumsar and Tirora. This constituency consists of Road-Arjuni tehsil, parts of Goregaon tehsil, Mohadi revenue divisions and Arjuni Morgaon tehsil along with sub-divisions.

What happened in the last elections?

Talking about the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, NCP’s Manohar Govardhan Chandrikapure was contesting from the Arjuni Morgaon Assembly seat. Opposite him, BJP fielded Rajkumar Badole for the third time giving him a ticket. Badole won elections here twice. This time but the public did not fully support him. A close contest was seen between the two. NCP’s Manohar got a total of 72,400 votes, while BJP’s Rajkumar got 71,682 votes. The win-loss difference between the two remained at only 718.

Arjuni Morgaon assembly seat was created by combining rural areas, so there is not a single urban voter here. If we talk about caste equations here, around 16 per cent are Dalit voters, while around 21 per cent are people from tribal communities. The Muslim population here is very small, only one percent of the Muslim population is in this seat.
