Ban on entry of women into Deoband’s Darul Uloom lifted, permission granted with conditions

Women are allowed to enter Darul Uloom

The Darul Uloom management of Deoband, Saharanpur had imposed a ban on the entry of women into Darul Uloom, which has now been decided to be removed. The management of Darul Uloom has withdrawn its decision to ban the entry of women.

In May, a ban was imposed on women entering the Muslim educational institution Darul Uloom. The reason given for imposing the ban was that women come to campus and take photographs and make film, which disturbs the studies of other children. Because of this this decision was made. However, this decision has now been withdrawn.

Entry conditions

After this decision, women will now be able to enter Darul Uloom, but the entry conditions have become strict. Women will be allowed to enter Darul Uloom along with their husbands. Likewise, a visitor pass lasting two hours will be carried out. Taking photographs or recording videos is not permitted inside Darul Uloom. It will be prohibited to eat food while sitting in the institution’s facilities.

Why was entry prohibited?

When women were banned from entering Darul Uloom, Maulana Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani, explaining the reason for the same, said that this decision was taken in view of the video going viral on social media. Women have been banned from entering Darul Uloom. The women who came here used to make reels and share them on social networks, so the image of this place was being tarnished throughout the country. Along with this, the studies of the students studying here were also disrupted.

When was Darul Uloom established?

Darul Uloom Deoband was established on 31 May 1866. Darul Uloom was founded together by Muhammad Qasim Nanautvi, Fazlur Rehman Usmani and Syed Muhammad Abid. Mahmood Deobandi was his first teacher and Mahmood Hasan Deobandi was his first student. On 14 October 2020, Maulana Arshad Madani was appointed as the director and Maulana Abul Qasim Nomani was appointed as the senior teacher of Hadith (Shaikh al-Hadith).
