Since the political situation changed in Bangladesh, atrocities against Hindus are continuously increasing. Fundamentalism is at its peak. Democracy is on crutches. The threshold was reached when Hindu religious leader and ISKCON Mahant Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in Dhaka two days ago and then on Tuesday, the Chittagong court rejected his bail plea and sent him to prison. Since then, the situation in Bangladesh has worsened.
Hindus and their religious places are being targeted selectively. The anti-Hindu campaign that has been going on for a few months is at its peak in Bangladesh. Fundamentalists are targeting Hindus and hearings are not being held anywhere, from politics to courts. Mrityunjay Kumar Roy, General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu National Grand Alliance, said that a conspiracy is being hatched to ban ISKCON in Bangladesh.
All this is being done under a conspiracy in Bangladesh. Not long ago, the Attorney General had suggested removing the word secularism from the Constitution. From this one can estimate what kind of situation is being created in Bangladesh with respect to Hindus, their organizations and their religious places. Currently, the High Court has asked the Attorney General to explain the government’s stance regarding ISKCON.
Furthermore, he was asked to submit a report on the entire situation in the country by Thursday morning. In fact, the court has said that the law and order situation in the country should not deteriorate, but the images seen on the streets of Bangladesh are no less than a blot on the face of any democratic country. Fundamentalists have been openly raising slogans of banning ISKCON and killing its followers.
No action has been taken against him. On the contrary, the person who was arrested and sent to jail is giving the message of peace. Here, considering the seriousness of this entire matter, the Indian government immediately sent a strict message to Bangladesh. The Ministry of External Affairs wrote that those who attack other minorities, including Hindus, roam freely. At the same time, accusations have been leveled against a religious leader who had a legitimate claim.
He is concerned about the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das and his subsequent denial of bail. The Bangladesh government should ensure the safety of minorities and freedom of expression along with peaceful protests. Anger is rising in India over Bangladesh’s actions. A demonstration against Bangladesh was organized in Kolkata. The demand of the participants was that the atrocities against Hindus be put to an end.
BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said on Wednesday that Indian authorities should stop issuing visas to Bangladeshis until the neighboring country’s government releases prominent Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari. Imports and exports between the two countries should be temporarily suspended until measures are taken to stop atrocities against minorities there.
He said: “You know how Hindus are tortured there (Bangladesh). This kind of atrocities cannot continue. Prabhu Chinmoy Krishna Das has done nothing wrong. We want his immediate release. “False cases have been filed and this cannot be allow. “During this time, a delegation also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh.
TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee said, “This is not a state matter but a Centre-related matter. People have given their mandate to the central government. As a party, the Trinamool Congress has decided to support the decision of the Centre. I can only say “Whatever happened in Bangladesh is very unfortunate.” Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy also condemned the attack.
He said: “This should not happen. I condemn it. The government should actively intervene in this matter.” Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said his party is concerned about the situation in Bangladesh. He asked: “We are worried about what is happening in Bangladesh. A few days ago, an ISKCON monk was arrested and his followers were attacked. Where is Prime Minister Vishwaguru, Modi?”
Responding to the court petition seeking a ban on ISKCON, on Bangladesh calling ISKCON a fundamentalist organisation, Vishwa Hindu Parishad International President Alok Kumar said: “It is sad that Bangladesh is surrounded by jihadist Islamic fundamentalists. The rights of citizens are being violated there. And religious freedom is being suppressed. It is a lie to accuse ISKCON of being fundamentalist.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh said the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh shows that the country’s interim government is in the grip of fundamentalists. The way the attack is being carried out there is against humanity. The United Nations should intervene in this matter. He said, “People talk about being careful, but Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav don’t see Bangladesh. All Hindus should protest against the atrocities happening in Bangladesh.” BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra said: “We agree with the Indian government’s position.”
