Washington: The Indian-American community will ask the Trump administration and the US Congress next year to take strict action against Bangladesh. The community’s demands also include the imposition of economic sanctions on the Bangladesh regime. The community has decided to take this step against the atrocities committed against Hindu minorities and vandalism against temples in Bangladesh. Dr. Bharat Barai, a prominent Indian American physician and leader of the Indian American community, has been actively reaching out to American leaders regarding this issue. ‘Trump is a brave and decisive leader’
Dr Barai said: ‘Newly elected President Donald Trump recently made a big statement about violence against Hindu minorities and vandalism of temples in Bangladesh. Trump is a brave and decisive leader, and if the situation does not improve, I hope he will consider imposing economic sanctions on Bangladesh. He said that if a ban is imposed on the Bangladesh textile industry, it will cause serious damage to the economy of Bangladesh and may create a major crisis for the citizens of the country. We tell you that a large population of Bangladesh is associated with the textile industry.
‘…then violence against minorities can be reduced’
Dr. Barai made serious allegations about Bangladesh politics and said that the current Bangladesh government led by Mohammad Yunus is under the influence of the army. He believes that the Bangladesh government is actually run by the military. He said: ‘People of the Hindu American community expect the US legislators and administration to act on the oppression against minorities in Bangladesh. If the situation does not improve, we will appeal to Congress to take strict action on this matter. He believes that if the United States puts pressure on the Bangladesh government through action, then violence against minorities can be reduced there.

Dr. Barai also appealed to the Indian government that if atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh continue, then India should also consider taking measures like economic sanctions against Bangladesh. He said India should also reconsider its foreign policy regarding the situation in Bangladesh, so that the rights of minorities there can be protected. Dr. Barai also cited Trump’s statement in which he strongly condemned attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. In a statement ahead of the US elections on November 5, Trump had said: “I strongly condemn the barbaric attacks against Hindus, Christians and other minorities in Bangladesh.” This would never have happened during my reign.

Dr. Barai has alleged that the Democratic Party ignored these incidents. He said that now in Bangladesh, not only Hindus but also Muslims are discussing that external forces may play a role in the removal of the country’s democratic government. He said some people believe that some prominent individuals living in the United States and Europe, such as George Soros and Peter Omidyar, may be responsible for the crisis. (PTI)
