Many farmers were injured, farmers’ organizations expressed their anger
Bathinda News (Aaj Samaj), Bathinda: Despite thousands of complaints by the state government, there has been a delay in procurement of rice in the mandis. Although the current rice season is practically over, there are still piles of rice in the markets and farmers wait for many days for their crops to be sold. In many places, farmers’ patience is wearing thin and they are forced to protest against the government. Something similar happened in Bathinda on Monday night. Where the farmers surrounded the crop purchasing inspector who had arrived at the grain market. After this, the police reached the spot and attacked the farmers, in which many farmers were injured.
Peasant organizations expressed their protest
BKU Ekta Ugraha leader and farmer Jagseer Singh Jhumba said that late on Monday afternoon, a heavy police force reached the grain market of Raike Kalan village and lathi-charged the farmers. The farmers said the district administration and police are suppressing their voices by lathi-charging them.

The whole matter will be investigated: SSP
On the other hand, the police spokesperson states that the farmers seriously destroyed a police vehicle and attacked a police officer and injured him. The injured police officer has been admitted to the hospital. SSP Amneet Kondal said the police will investigate the matter and take action. Farmer leader Jagseer Singh demanded from Chief Minister Mann that action be taken against the police force that lathi-charged the farmers and that the paddy crop arriving in the mandis should be purchased immediately. The farmer leader said that if farmers are harassed, they will not remain silent and will intensify large-scale struggle against the state government, including the district administration.
