Bhavnathpur assembly seat
Everyone is eager to know what was the result of 81 seats in Jharkhand. Counting will begin very soon and trends will begin to emerge. The main contest for the Bhavnathpur assembly seat in Garhwa district was between Anant Pratap Dev of the Indian Alliance’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Bhanu Pratap Sahi of the NDA’s Bharatiya Janata Party. Voting took place here in the first phase on Wednesday, November 13.
Voting was held in total in two phases in Jharkhand. In the first phase, voting for a total of 43 seats in the state was held on November 13, while in the second phase, voting for the remaining 38 seats was held on November 20. Although Bhavnathpur falls under Garhwa district, its residents vote for Palamu in Lok Sabha elections. The headquarters of Bhavnathpur has been the identity of Bhanu Pratap Sahi since the formation of Jharkhand.
Election history: 2005 to 2019
Since 2000, a total of five elections have been held for this seat. Of them, Bhanu Pratap Sahi won three times. But it should also be noted that Sahi won three elections, but each time he was able to achieve this feat with the electoral symbols of different parties. In the 2005 assembly elections, Sahi defeated Anant Pratap Dev of the Congress. Sahi then won the elections on All India Forward Bloc ticket.
However, when assembly elections were held in 2009, Sahi’s charm did not remain intact. By then, the same young man had joined the Sangharsh Morcha. This year he did not have the success he expected. This year, Sahi was defeated by Anant Pratap of Congress by a huge electoral margin. However, Sahi’s fortunes changed once again in the 2014 assembly elections. Sahi defeated Anant Pratap Dev.
The 2019 assembly elections were different in many ways. This year, Sahi was contesting the elections as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, while Anant Pratap Dev was contesting against him as an independent candidate. Dev fell to third place in this election. The BSP came second and Bhanu Pratap Sahi won the election by a margin of 40,000 votes. Will this Sahi fort collapse or not in these elections? Now we will know in no time.
