In view of the increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR, the Central Government has taken a big decision. Under this, the CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjacent Areas) has amended the GRAP rules. Now with the implementation of Stages 3 and 4 of the GRAP, it has become mandatory to close physical classes in schools. Previously, the state government had the power to do this or not.
As per the amended rules, physical classes up to class five will be suspended once GRAP-III is implemented. That is, then the studies will be online. At the same time, once GRAP-IV is implemented, studies up to class 10 will be shifted to online mode. Which means that students up to that class will not have to go to school. Until now, the rule was that states had to decide whether to open schools or hold classes online.
Some new clauses have also been added to GRAP-III. In this regard, NCR state governments will also have to change office timings. Apart from this, the “advice to wear mask” has also been added when GRAP 4 is implemented. It has been written that if it is necessary to leave home, then do so with a mask.
Let us tell you that the NCR (National Capital Region) includes Delhi as well as many districts of the three surrounding states: Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

What is GRAP?
GRAP-1: Poor (ICA 201-300)
GRAP-2: Very poor (ICA 301-400)
GRAP-3: Severe (AQI 401 to 450)
GRAP-4: Very serious (AQI greater than 450)
Let us tell you that GRAP 4 is currently applicable in Delhi-NCR. Additionally, schools up to grade 12 are closed. Currently, there is a slight improvement in Delhi’s air. Currently the AQI level is below 400. Delhi’s air is now at ‘very poor’ level instead of ‘severe’ level.
