Instructions for the periodic inspection of public schools
In view of incidents of food poisoning in government schools, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday directed district magistrates to conduct regular inspections in state educational institutions with a view to providing clean food to students. The Telangana High Court on Wednesday sought a government report by December 2 on recent incidents of students falling ill after being served lunch in government schools.
According to an official statement, the Chief Minister asked the district magistrates to treat the employees and students of government schools, hostels and residential schools as their own children and not show any negligence. He directed district magistrates to regularly inspect government educational institutions and submit reports. He expressed regret over incidents of food poisoning that are coming to light despite his many instructions and said that the government will not hesitate to dismiss employees if they are proven negligent in providing food to students.
He said the government has hired thousands of new teachers and substantially increased funding to provide food and other essential items to students. Reddy said that some people are trying to defame the government, although the government is taking positive decisions in the interest of students. He said the administration will take strict action against such forces and punish them according to law. The Chief Minister also directed officials to initiate strict action against those spreading rumors and misinformation regarding food in government hostels. (Language)
