A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on air pollution in Delhi on Monday, in which the court came down heavily on the governments. The Delhi government on Sunday ordered the closure of all schools up to class nine and online classes. The government had not banned students from attending school in classes 11 and 12. But after the court’s reprimand, Delhi’s CM Atishi issued an order on Monday saying that classes for students of classes 10 and 12 will also be held online amid rising pollution levels in the city.
Besides Delhi, schools were also closed in Noida and Gurugram. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court had directed all these states to take an immediate decision to suspend all physical classes for students up to class 12. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality index Delhi’s 24-hour clock was recorded on Monday night at 493, the worst level so far this season.
Schools closed in Delhi, Noida and Gurugram
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said in a post on Twitter: “Starting tomorrow, physical classes for classes 10 and 12 have also been suspended and all studies have been moved online.”
Schools in districts included in the NCR will remain closed from Tuesday and schools in Noida will also remain closed till November 23 amid rising pollution. It has been decided to teach online classes.
This order to close schools was also implemented in Gurugram, Faridabad and Sonipat. The Gurugram administration has issued instructions to schools from grades 1 to 5 to conduct online classes from November 19. The Department of Education has issued an official notification in this regard on the social media platform X.
