Bihar: Independent candidate in Tirhut graduate by-election dies of heart attack, elections will not be postponed

Bihar by-election

Bihar: Rajesh Roshan, a BJP militant worker and currently a candidate in the Tirhut Legislative Council by-election, died of a heart attack on Sunday morning. After taking bath at home, he suddenly suffered a heart attack during the puja, his family immediately took him to the hospital, but he died on the way. There is chaos in the family after this accident. Rajesh Roshan filed his nomination as an independent candidate on November 15. He wanted to participate in the Legislative Council elections, but the party and the alliance did not give him the opportunity.

Members of many social organisations, including the BJP, have expressed their deepest condolences on the demise of Rajesh. People said that after the morning puja, they were preparing to go to Sakra, when they suddenly fell unconscious and could not get up. Let us tell you that Sitamarhi MP Devesh Chand Thakur was the MLC of Tirhut Graduates constituency, this seat fell vacant as he contested the Lok Sabha elections and by-elections are being held in this seat.

The elections will not be postponed, what do the rules say?

Since the process of filing nomination papers is still ongoing, there is no provision to postpone the elections. The nomination process will continue until November 18. November 21 is the last date to withdraw nominations. Voting will take place on December 5 and the recount will take place on December 9.

The NDA has fielded JDU spokesperson Abhishek Kumar Jha for this post. On the other hand, the Grand Alliance has given a chance to RJD’s Gopi Kishan. Prashant Kishor’s party Jan Suraj is also in the fray. PK has sent Dr. Vinayak Gautam from this area. Vinayak Gautam’s father Ram Kumar Singh, a Tirhut graduate, was a three-time MLC. Devesh Chandra Thakur had captured this seat by defeating him.”
