Worried about financial constraints in Banka district of Bihar, a man, his wife and their minor son committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance. The incident took place on Friday night in the Amarpur police station area of Balua village.
According to the news agency report, regarding this incident, police station in-charge Pankaj Kumar Jha said that Kanhai Mahato, 40, first consumed a poisonous substance himself and then forced his wife Geeta (35) already his three children to consume poison. The younger son, Rakesh, immediately spit out the poison and informed his grandmother, who lived nearby, about the incident.
Three people died after consuming poison
After this, close people took all the family members to the local health center from where they were referred to Bhagalpur Hospital. Kanhai Mahato was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while his wife and 12-year-old son Dheeraj died during treatment. Meanwhile, Savita, their 16-year-old daughter, is admitted to the ICU in critical condition and fighting for her life.
The deceased had taken a loan of Rs 20 lakh.
Police said Kanhai Mahato had taken a loan of around Rs 20 lakh from different financial institutions. According to neighbors, recently some recovery agents came to his house and demanded payment of the dues, due to which he was under mental pressure.
The Amarpur police station in-charge said further action will be taken on the basis of the written statement of the family members. The local administration has assured the family of all possible help.
